A POP of Greek

I'm here with the newest update from my art & design life. I am currently making an illustration for my Illustration Design class. We have to make an illustrated book that contains min 8 illustrations and 10 spreads. I have decided to redesign a book I bought years ago called Kitab Monster, written by Anasrullah. Here's a quick look on the sketches.

I wanted to focus more on the least known monsters. But I still can't neglect the popular ones *smirk*

Meet Harpy. I used my own expression as the reference (sorry, no photo haha).

I tried inking a sketch to see what it will look like. I have to submit the mock up to the lecturer tomorrow. Be sure to present it 100%. Mine's not 100% but a sketch for an illustration mock up is acceptable *fingers crossed*

The title says a POP because I did my mani to give me a boost, or somewhat like that... These are the dark times for us students *hides* Spring never visited Jakarta, that's why I bring her to my nails. I am currently obsessed with my new nail polish from Maybelline Color Show. I bought Coral Craze and Blackcurrant. I love pastel colors. I tried to make dots with a Q-tip, dipped with Revlon's Top Fast in Jaded. My top coat is out so I'm keeping them "naked" for some times lol.

I guess I just want to show off my photography skill? Lol

Typography 2 Final Project - The Wonder

It is that time of the year again... Final projects!! Gladly I have finished one project which I have been wanting to share with you. For my final project for the Typography 2 class was to create our own typeface, combining an element from a selected country. I chose Greek. My concept was to create a very strong typeface, yet people will notice that it is Greek (asked by the lecturer). I was greatly inspired by Disney's movie, Hercules. 

We also have to create the application for the typeface. Greece produce a lot of spices, therefore I chose olive oil, oregano leaves, and a red wine. I replaced the original labels with my own creation.

Hello guys! I managed to spend some time to upload this humble blog in the midst of my final projects :') I will be sure to update you about the progress etc later when I'm done ;)

Soo, what did I do today? We have a social project that we need to conduct for our Character Building class. We decided to give food to the homeless people that we encounter on the street. It is such a heart warming experience and it teaches us to be kind to everybody, not just our family and friends, but EVERYBODY. Spreading kindness is a very beautiful thing and you will feel happy seeing their smile :D


After we did the project, we took a break at a local park (more like a sport stadium...), because our first plan was to find some homeless people there. We found one, but since there were too many cops, we decided to give the food to three stray cats XD But we did give some to a poor lady.

I managed to take some good shots of the cat. Enjoy!

Confusion Hit Me Hard

Hiya folks! Been so long since my last post... I've been very busy with my uni (FYI, I take Art & Design major and let me tell you, it's fun yet hard at the same time). Doing uni projects and side projects. Life has been wonderful for me :)

I have decided to revive this blog, to share with you my ups and down and everything that is related with my major. I hope that I can help someone out there with this blog. I really hope you will enjoy :)


The thing that hit me hard right now is actually my future job. Since I was little, I have always fancied illustrators. Because I grew up watching animes and reading mangas, the root is pretty deep and I cannot cut it down THAT easily. Even though I study graphic design, I don't really feel the 'umph'... Don't get me wrong, I take this major with zero knowledge about design. FYI, design and drawing is two different things. Design is when you make something for mass production, thus making it comfortable, up to date with the latest trend, visually attractive, yet has a very deep deep deeeeeeepppp concept behind it. Drawing is... drawing. It's not made for mass production, but for the artists' personal use (maybe his hobby, etc). Despite it (design) being THAT hard, I do enjoy doing every steps because I like to develop my own idea into a concept. What kind of story should I tell to the people? In what way? It's like a storytelling.

The real problem is actually the fact that I want to be an illustrator. But as mentioned above, my roots in the modern Japanese culture is pretty deep, and rumour has it that not ALL company will hire you if you have manga/anime based illustrations in your portfolio, especially working abroad. I think I haven't mentioned this to you before, but the two people who inspire me most are Tim Burton and Olivia Rose. I combined their technique with mine. I also like add an abstract element to it, making it somewhat like a surrealism art.

Right now I'm just so confused, up to the fact that I've been thinking to change my style. But I don't know if that is a good thing because this is who I am, take it or leave it.

...Or is it good to think like that? >.<
